πŸ” What is SciPhr Vault?

A personal place to store sensitive information β€” passwords, account numbers, private notes β€” encrypted before it's saved. Every record has a category and a title so you can find it later, and only you can see it, since it's tied to your account.

πŸ–±οΈ How To Use

1

Create a record

"New" button β€” set a category, a title, and write the content in the rich text editor.

2

View a record

The πŸ‘ icon opens the decrypted content in a popup. At the top right of that window there is a PDF button that downloads that record as a file.

3

Edit

The ✏️ icon opens the same form pre-filled with the current data, in a rich text editor: bold, italics, lists, tables and links.

4

Delete

The πŸ—‘ icon permanently deletes the record, with a confirmation first.

πŸ“„ Exporting a record to PDF

When you open a record with the πŸ‘ icon, a PDF button appears at the top right. Pressing it makes the server decrypt that record and hand you a letter-size PDF with the category, the title and the full content. It is not the browser print dialog: it is a download.

It works the same for records saved as plain text and for records with formatting (bold, lists, tables). Line breaks are preserved in both cases.

⚠️ The PDF is no longer encrypted. Once downloaded it leaves the vault as an ordinary file: keep it where you would keep a document full of passwords, or delete it when you are done. Every export is recorded in your activity log.

πŸ›‘οΈ Security

πŸ”’ Encrypted at rest

Content is encrypted (AES-256-CBC) before it's saved to the database β€” it's never stored in plain text.

πŸ”‘ Individual access

Every record is tied to your account; no one else can view it, not even from the admin panel.

πŸ—‚οΈ Categories

Organize your records by category (e.g. "Banking", "Social Media", "Work") to find them fast.

πŸ“„ What you export is not encrypted

Encryption protects what is stored inside the vault. Viewing it on screen or exporting it to PDF shows it decrypted: from there on it depends on where you leave it.

🚨 Panic Button

The red "PANIC" button instantly signs you out and clears temporary browser data β€” use it if someone else is about to see your screen and you need to leave the vault immediately.

⚠️ This only ends your current session β€” your records stay saved and encrypted, nothing gets deleted.

πŸ”§ Troubleshooting

"Too many requests" on refresh β€” the vault has a per-minute request limit as a safeguard; wait a moment and try again.
Editing and saving changed the formatting of my text β€” the editor saves the formatting you give it (paragraphs, for example). A record written as plain text stays plain text until you open it and save it from the editor; from then on it keeps that formatting. If you want a text to stay literal, do not save it from the editor: viewing it and exporting it to PDF does not modify it.
I don't see my previous records β€” make sure you're logged into the same account you created them with; records are tied to your user, not a device.
